whiteness becoming snow
wind banging into evergreens
disappearing
into snow trails
where no one walks
only darkness
sweeping into
winter
where the full moon
shall rise
upon a solstice dance

Beautiful, Dan! Those evergreens! — a couple of days ago we saw such a stand on the way to Moncton. Covered with Christmas card snow. Almost unreal. They were heart-piercing reminders that all around them, as far as the eye could see, and even farther, Irving had cut down their brothers and sisters. And still they stood, draped with snow, providing cosy homes for those few animals and birds which still exist.
